General Questions
What is an Early Childhood Center?
An Early Childhood Center (ECE) is what some folks may refer to as a Preschool. We call ourselves an ECE because we center our focus on the experience of Childhood and serving children. Las Luciérnagas is a licensed Child Care center, State of California CCL Facility # 384004459
What are the age groups you serve?
2 - 5 years old (until Kindergarten entrance).
What days are you open?
Monday - Friday
How many days per week can I enroll my child?
We are currently only offering 5 (Monday - Friday) day enrollment at this time.
What is your daily schedule? Do you provide full day programming?
Our program runs 8:30am - 3:30pm on Monday , Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. With an early release on Wednesday 8:30am - 1:00pm for the 2024-25 School Year. For a more detailed schedule and to learn about what students engage in during the day: A Day At LL
Do you provide snack?
Yes - we provide a healthy morning and afternoon snack daily. We accommodate all food allergies.
Do you provide lunch?
No - children bring their lunch to school.
Does my child have to be potty trained?
No - we meet families where they are at in the process.
What is your ratio?
We have a 4:1 ratio, with 2 teachers and 1 floating support staff (Head Teacher, Assistant Teacher, and Teacher’s Aide).
What is the maximum daily enrollment?
Our maximum daily enrollment is 12 children per day.
What is the school year calendar?
We start in late-August and run through the end of June. We observe all SFUSD breaks and holiday closures. For more specific details about our school-year schedule: School Calendar
What neighborhood are you located in?
We are located in the Mission District at 2095 Harrison St.
Do you have an outdoor space?
Yes - we have daily playtime on our outdoor patio, weather permitting.
Do you take the children off-site?
Yes - we go on neighborhood walks, and take children to neighborhood parks weekly.
Are there any field trips?
Yes, we have quarterly field trips. Our field trip destinations include parks, the beach, SF Public Libraries, the Post Office, local museums or other community spaces. During the month of June we get into a summer rhythm with weekly field trips.

What is the enrollment process?

When can I begin enrollment for my child?
If the program is not at capacity, we have rolling admissions. Families may apply at any time, check for space availability. For the coming school year, we give priority re-enrollment to current families and confirm their enrollment in early March, and then review new applications, offering spaces by mid-March.
If there is a wait-list, how will I know about moving up in the wait-list?
We will notify families on the wait-list as soon as a space becomes available.

Do you offer financial aid or tuition assistance?
Las Luciérnagas accepts vouchers from the San Francisco Early Learning Scholarship program. If your family qualifies for vouchers or want to find out if you qualify, please look at the information on our Tuition and Fees page.
